Possible Shutdown late 2018Print

AFGE HQIn one week, if Congress does not come to a funding deal, some federal agencies will run out of money, triggering a partial government shutdown.

Our union is fighting with everything we have to make sure not even a single federal employee faces the uncertainty and chaos of a government shutdown. Earlier this week AFGE sent a letter to the House of Representatives and a letter to the Senate encouraging Members of Congress to come to a funding deal and pass a “no strings attached” 1.9% pay increase for you.

“Federal employees took a beating in the years following the financial crisis of 2008 and are still a long way from regaining the purchasing power of their pre-crisis paychecks," said AFGE National President J. David Cox Sr. They have had pay freezes, retirement cuts, and unpaid furloughs. They have continued throughout to work hard to provide services to veterans, warfighters, Social Security recipients and victims of natural disasters, all because they are enormously devoted to the missions of their agencies.”

In solidarity,
AFGE
